Cricklewood Library

Cricklewood Library

It’s taken six years but last night the Friends of Cricklewood Library volunteers took a closer step to re-opening Cricklewood Community Library having successfully pitched for a pledge from the Mayor of London and have been promised £40,000 – ONLY if they can raise £58,217 in 62 days.

They have a 2,000ft2 space newly built, it has no water, electricity, floor, lights etc, to turn a shell of a building in NW2 into a working community library to serve the people of Cricklewood. There’s no funding coming from government, either national or local. For more information, email sally@cricklewoodlibrary.org.uk.

These fantastic volunteers need your help now more than ever, no matter how small. https://www.spacehive.com/cricklewood-library

Quote from last night: Cricklewood library is a much needed project in “a really funny place with a great name”.

FOCL hope you’ll want to pledge when you see the moment of truth at City Hall when the Mayor of London pledged £40,000, they need the full £120,000 or they get nothing!   Now’s a good time to support the Library Crowdfunding Campaign.

Pitch perfect –  here’s Sally in full flow, sealing the deal!

Paint the Library

Working on the assumption we’re going to get this money (oh yes we are!), we’ll need volunteers to help us paint the library when we finally get access next March. Can you wield a paint brush or roller? Can you make cups of tea for the thirsty workers? Can you blag paints and tools from suppliers? If you are that person, please sign up right here, right now:

We reckon a team of twenty people for a weekend should do the trick. Gwan, you know you want to! I’ve signed up!!!
