The planning application for a waste transfer station on the Selco site – where Parcelforce used to be on the Edgware Road – is now available on Barnet’s website, ref 17/6714/EIA, and open for online comments until Friday 01 December.
This would be just north of the new road bridge planned to cross the railway, between the new Thameslink station and the road/rail superhub for aggregates and spoil. It no longer includes the Bestway site where the Brent Cross Cricklewood developers planned to gasify and burn waste (the developers got very unhappy when residents called it an incinerator), because North London Waste Authority got the go-ahead to expand at Edmonton instead. In some ways, this new transfer station would replace the current site on the other side of the railway, reached from Tilling Road.
The application envisages up to 227 refuse collection trucks bringing waste in and 49 HGVs carrying compacted waste away every weekday and half that on Saturdays, with traffic lights being installed at the Geron Way / Edgware Road junction.

No, the aggregates-and-spoil road/rail superhub application is still live. DB Cargo have said they’re not proceeding with their application to use the site for a temporary 18 months, but they’re pressing on with their main application.
