We are recruiting for Newman Catholic College – ‘Everyone Contributes, Everyone Counts, Everyone Succeeds’. Newman Catholic College is an all-boys Catholic school, located in the London Borough of Brent. The school has a student age range of 11–19 years old.
1x Apprentice Assistant Finance Officer

Location of work: Newman Catholic College, Harlesden Road, London, NW10 3RN.

Salary: Apprenticeship wage (16-18: £3.30 p/h, 18-20: £5.30 p/h, 21+: £6.70 p/h).

Contract hours: 36 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8-9am to 4-5pm.

Qualification working towards: TBC (This will possibly be Level 2 Accounting).

Administrative and financial duties assisting the School Business Manager which will include:

·         Assist in the operation and maintenance of the school’s manual and computerised financial systems.

·         Updating financial records.

·         Assist in the production of financial information and reports.

·         Prepare database membership reports through IT system.

·         Help maintain school financial record such as managing petty cash arrangements or record day to day transactions, payments and receipts through IT system.

Skills & Abilities

– Strong IT skills including MS Office.

– Ability to build working relationships with different partners including pupils, parents/carers and colleagues.

– Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants need to be aged 16 – 24 due to funding restrictions.

This role requires a DBS check.

Apprentice Hairdressers

We are looking for people who enjoy customer service, fast-paced work and have an interest in hairdressing to undertake our 2-year Hairdressing Apprenticeship Programme, followed by a 1 year transitional period.

You will be trained by our in-house award-winning team of stylists on a 1:1 basis whilst working in one of our three salons in Brent, London. Based primarily in one site, you’ll have the opportunity to visit all of our sites to gain a great range of experience from the programme.

Locations of work: Kingsbury, Willesden Green and Queens Park.

Salary: £107.20 per week, (paid monthly).

Contract hours: 40 Hours per week and Apprentices will work 1 in 3 Sundays. There will be weekly training which is on a one to one basis. You will also gain an in salon experience daily as part of your ongoing training.

Immediate start. 3-year contract.

Qualification working towards: Apprentices will achieve an NVQ level 2 in Hairdressing. There is a possibility of a permanent position as a stylist once the apprenticeship is finished.

Apprentice duties will include:

·         Booking appointments,

·         Shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair,

·         Mixing and applying hair colouring.

·         Studying hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection – there’s also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, or relaxing different types of hair.

Skills & Abilities

You don’t need specific qualifications to apply but you will need the motivation and commitment to want to become a hairdresser. Hairdressing is a fast moving, fashion orientated business, so you will need to be creative, enjoy meeting people and have loads of energy.

You would also need to be:

Practical and well organised.

A good communicator with excellent social skills.
Willing to work flexible hours/days as agreed in the employment contract.

Well presented in all aspects including: clothing, hair and personal hygiene.
