Do you have a green thumb? Have you thought you would like to have an allotment but it’s just to much time to work on all of it? How about working in one of the 11 small beds available at the NorthWestTWO community allotment at the Gladstone Park Allotments (behind the Cricklewood Bus Garage)? Come join us – there is a parking lot and bicycle lock up available and a storage shed to store tools. There is a greenhouse as well to help propagate seedlings and locally donated wood chips to use however which way you want. All that we ask is that you are a current member of NorthWestTWO (membership forms on-line or at Munro’s Newsagents on Temple Road) and you lend a hand with the occasional weeding and path maintenance. Otherwise we have 4 beds of strawberries, 1 cherry tree, a bunch of black currant bushes along with some raspberries and blueberries. I think there is a Gooseberry bush in there as well which fruits every year. We are proud to say we have been chemical free of pesticides for the past 7 years and we are conscious of affecting the local wildlife. We have grown sweet corn, artichokes, onions, peas and potatoes successfully. Try out your green thumb and stand back to enjoy the good life and the fruits of your labour. Email us at northwesttwo@gmail.com if you are interested or need more information.
