Daffodil Planting

DAFFODIL PLANTING
We have finally had enough rain to allow the Friends of Gladstone Park to plant some daffodils in amongst the long grass near the painted railway bridge.  We have the full support of Brent Council Parks department for this.  The varieties of daffodil chosen are recommended for naturalising in long grass and will give us a long flowering period of successional blooms.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO PLANT ON SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER FROM 14.00hr
VENUE:  UP THE HILL FROM THE PAINTED RAILWAY BRIDGE NEAR THE LONG GRASS AREA:  Bridge accessed from Lancaster Road
We shall start planting from 14.00hr this coming Sunday. If you wish to volunteer please email Helen at  gladstonewildlife@gmail.com.
TOOLS
You will need a spade and/or a trowel.  We shall dig out clods of turf which requires strength and a sharp blade on your spades.  Those who are not so strong can plant the bulbs in the holes using trowels and put back the turf.
SPADE SHARPENING
Helen’s husband has volunteered to sharpen spades with his angle grinder from 13.30hr onwards should you need this doing.  Details of where to go for this will be sent to you by Helen if you need this service.Daffodils
